It is becoming a semi-regular tradition for a family vacation to exotic ports of call. Several years ago we all traveled to the Bahamas and this summer we went to Orlando to visit Disney World. This time around there were to additional people, my niece and nephew for one and my girlfriend Nancy for two. Unfortunately Ty probably wont remember anything, he just turned one, and Ellie might have some vague memories when she is older. All in all a great time spent with the family. The best part was the nightly dinners we cooked in the room. Nothing like getting the family around a dinner table. Now onto the next vacation....while still in Orlando we discussed the next family trip in two years. I am pulling for the Pacific Northwest myself, we will see. Read on for the full scoop.

After months of not hiking I was determined to get out and enjoy nature. Unfortunately the day I picked did not present the best weather condition. My first choice of Old Rag got rained out. So I headed further south to Whiteoak Canyon where it only drizzled. Still a good hike out in the woods.

I was planning on hiking in the Shenandoah for Veterans Day but the rain from Hurricane Ida washed the plan away. So when my dad invited me along with him to visit the Vietnam Memorial and American History Museum in DC it sure sounded better than sitting at home. Despite the dreary weather it was a great afternoon spent in the city with my dad.

Another long road trip to see Phish. After a somewhat disappointing performance the night before at Merriweather Post Pavilion I was off to Saratoga Springs and the SPAC for the tour closers. I again had my hopes up high for a great performance and some hiking in the Adirondacks. But was SPAC a better performance than Merriweather?

Travel to Richmond to see Medeski, Martin and Wood at the Lewis Gitner Botanical Garden. This was a new venue for me and I was completely blown away by it. The show itself was so-so. Fortunately the rain didn't stop everyone who attended from having a great time at this spectacular venue.
